ICT Mission Statement

ICT AT HONILANDS

We realise that our children will be living and working in a world where ICT is of huge importance.

We acknowledge that we have an important part to play in educating our young people to allow them to become confident    users of the latest technology. We aim to give our pupils the chance to experience first hand specialist software packages such as 2Simple and Longman Knowledgebox as well as more well known software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Textease database.

We also recognise that ICT is not solely the use of computers.  We use Digiblue cameras in all subjects to enable the children to create their own movies.  Pixies and Romers for control technology. In the Early Years we use metal detectors, walkie talkies and controllable toys.

In our teaching of ICT we incorporate regular  visits to the City Learning Centre, where pupils learn about control technology and animation.  An important feature of these visits include cross-curricular days where several subjects are delivered through the effective use of ICT.

At Honilands we believe in nurturing enquiring minds, encouraging enthusiasm and developing skills to achieve success in this important area of the curriculum.
